Entrance to a Flying Tiger Copenhagen store

Flying Tiger Copenhagen expands internationally through franchise partnerships with retail operators capable of building a store network. Its Canada agreement with Fox Group and Southeast Asian development programme show the scale of that model: local property access, import capability and a funded rollout—not a passive investment in one shop.

Flying Tiger’s franchise model: actual expansion examples

The company’s 2025 annual-report announcement reported more than 1,100 stores in 44 markets at year-end, including six markets entered during 2025.

Canada: on 12 May 2026, Flying Tiger named Fox Group as its Canadian franchise partner. The announcement identified five Greater Toronto locations: CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Vaughan Mills, Scarborough Town Centre, Square One and Markville. Canada was described as the brand’s 45th market; openings were planned from late June through the second half of 2026. Those dates were the announced programme, not a current opening-status report.

Southeast Asia: its 25 September 2025 expansion announcement targeted 130 stores across Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand by 2030, supported by regional operations in Singapore and high-traffic shopping-mall locations.

For investors, these agreements illustrate a territory-development business. They are evidence of the model, not an offer of rights in markets already assigned to partners.

What a Flying Tiger retail partner must be able to deliver

Flying Tiger sells an extensive mix of small home, stationery, party, toy and lifestyle products. That breadth makes buying, replenishment and compliance central to the local operation. A store can lose margin through freight, slow-moving seasonal stock and markdowns even when its entrance is busy.

  • Property: a sequence of viable mall or high-street sites, supported by occupancy costs and achievable sales per square metre.
  • Inventory: a landed-cost model covering product purchases, freight, duty, storage, replenishment and clearance.
  • Compliance: a defined importer and a process for the labelling, testing and documentation applicable to each product category.
  • Management: a retail team accountable for merchandising, stock availability, shrinkage and successive store openings.

Flying Tiger franchise cost: what investors should budget

The company sources cited here do not publish a standard global franchise fee or a verified worldwide investment range. A quoted store budget must identify its market, floor area, fit-out specification and opening-stock requirement. A territory budget must also cover warehousing, management and the agreed development schedule.

Star Brands structures the funding requirement in three parts: store opening capital, central operating infrastructure and working capital. Keeping them separate exposes whether the investor can finance replenishment and the next opening after the first store launches. Any franchise fee, minimum purchase commitment or royalty must come from the proposed agreement.

The terms that determine the local business

Before leases are committed, settle the territory boundaries, opening milestones, purchasing and payment terms, online-sales rights and treatment of unsold merchandise. Establish who bears product-compliance and recall responsibilities. These provisions determine the capital required and the margin retained locally.

The engagement starts with a defined market and funding case; rights and appointment require agreement with the brand or its authorised counterparty.
