FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY REVIEW · 6 NOVEMBER 2026

HEYTEA’s return to franchise-partner applications in 2026 gives investors a real reason to revisit the brand, but an application channel is not an automatic territory entitlement. Its premium tea positioning, international reach and operating discipline must be evaluated alongside the actual market rules, eligibility standards and unit economics.

HEYTEA grew from a new-style tea concept in China into an international beverage chain with a notable emphasis on fresh ingredients, product innovation and digital commerce. Its international growth creates legitimate investor interest, particularly where premium tea demand and experienced food-and-beverage operators overlap.

Yet the question ‘Can I open a HEYTEA franchise?’ requires more than a single global answer. Domestic China applications, international partnerships and country-specific operator arrangements are different routes, governed by different qualifications and contractual terms.

HEYTEA reopened its application route in 2026

Reporting in October 2026 said HEYTEA had reopened its official partner-application channel through the HEYTEA GO mini-programme in September, following a suspension that began in February 2025. The revised application guidance called for investors to explain available capital, intended territory, expected payback and a practical store-management plan.

That development matters because it moves the opportunity from speculation about the brand’s future into a documented application process. But submitting an application is not approval; HEYTEA retains discretion to assess or reject applicants, and applicants should confirm the eligibility rules governing their particular country.

Does HEYTEA offer franchises outside China?

HEYTEA has developed an international retail footprint and has discussed expansion beyond China. Its October 2026 global collaboration announcement referred to participating stores across multiple international markets. However, a store’s presence in a country does not disclose whether that location is company-operated, jointly managed or run under a local franchise or partnership agreement.

International applicants should therefore seek a written answer on territory rights, exclusivity, development obligations and whether applications are being accepted in their proposed market. A China application route should not be assumed to confer rights in the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore or any other overseas market.

How much does a HEYTEA franchise cost?

No single worldwide HEYTEA franchise cost can be responsibly applied to every market. Fees and investment requirements can depend on the specific partnership programme, store format, site, fit-out, equipment, training, supply chain, deposits, technology and country-level licensing conditions.

Online tables quoting a universal upfront fee or guaranteed payback period should be treated as unverified unless tied to an official, current, market-specific document. An applicant’s available capital is not the same as the all-in investment for a working store.

The operating economics behind a premium tea concept

HEYTEA is known for contemporary tea products, fruit-led beverages and a digitally enabled retail experience. Adyen announced a payments partnership with HEYTEA in February 2025 to support international store and online payment operations. This shows why the store model depends on more than drinks production: fulfilment, payments, queue management, peak-hour throughput and customer retention all shape performance.

Investors should model average orders per day, average net receipt, ingredient and packaging cost, waste, store labour, rent, delivery-platform economics and local promotional intensity. Seasonal demand for tea drinks, the availability of approved ingredients and temperature-controlled supply can change the cash requirements materially.

Choosing a territory before paying for a site

A qualified partner should compare target districts by concentration of relevant consumers, pedestrian and transit traffic, suitable retail units, competition, pricing capacity and labour supply. Evaluate the full catchment rather than assuming that popularity on social media translates directly into local repeat demand.

HEYTEA’s brand positioning may support premium locations, but this also increases exposure to high rents and fit-out costs. Financial models need conservative base cases and sufficient working capital to fund launch and early trading.

What should be in a HEYTEA partner proposal?

  • Clear identification of the intended country, city and operating territory.
  • A documented ownership and funding structure, including available working capital.
  • Evidence of multi-site foodservice or retail management capability.
  • A property shortlist with local demand and occupancy-cost analysis.
  • A realistic opening timetable and store-operations plan.
  • An understanding of approval, training, ingredient sourcing, brand controls and reporting obligations.

How STAR Brands would assess the opportunity

STAR Brands would first distinguish the appropriate brand entry route, then review the applicant’s financial capacity, management team, target market and proposed unit economics. Any introduction or application should follow the brand’s authorised process; there should be no assumption that rights can be purchased from an unauthorised third party.
