Bo’s Coffee to open 85 new franchise stores, eyes international growth

Bo’s Coffee Franchise

Bo’s Coffee, the Cebu-based coffee chain renowned for its commitment to local sourcing and rich blends, is setting its sights on an ambitious expansion plan that could significantly increase its global footprint. With a robust strategy in place, Bo’s Coffee aims to open 85 new franchised stores by the end of next year, driven by a vision to reach 200 locations in total.

Domestic Growth and International Expansion

Under the leadership of CEO Steve Benitez, Bo’s Coffee has outlined a dynamic growth trajectory. The company plans to launch 15 new outlets in the Philippines within the next four months. This rapid expansion will pave the way for an additional 50 new sites in 2025, marking a substantial increase in their domestic presence. Currently, Bo’s Coffee operates 145 stores across the Philippines, Qatar, and the UAE, sourcing its coffee from local farms in Benguet, Sagada, Mt. Kitanglad, and Mt. Matutum.

“We will have 16 stores by the end of this year in Doha and four in Dubai,” Benitez announced at the Franchise Asia Philippines 2024 International Conference. This expansion in Qatar and the UAE is part of a larger strategy to bolster the brand’s international presence, with plans to further solidify its foothold in these regions.

Franchising Strategy: Scaling Up and New Horizons

Bo’s Coffee is strategically focusing on franchising as a key growth driver. Benitez shared that 70% of the company’s planned store footprint will be franchised, reflecting a commitment to leveraging franchising to scale operations effectively.

The coffee chain opened its first international store in Doha, Qatar, in April 2018. Since then, it has seen impressive growth, with 14 outlets currently operational in the city through its partnership with the Al Majed Group. In November 2022, Bo’s Coffee expanded to the UAE, establishing a presence in Dubai with two stores in collaboration with the Al Mulla Business Group.

As Bo’s Coffee looks to the future, it has set its sights on North America, specifically Canada, as a significant new market. While Benitez did not provide a specific timeline for the Canadian launch, the plan is to introduce 10-12 stores over a 10-year period. This strategic move is poised to introduce Bo’s Coffee’s distinctive offerings to a new and diverse customer base.

Looking Ahead: The Path to 200 Stores

The overarching goal for Bo’s Coffee is to reach 200 stores by the end of next year, marking a significant milestone in its growth journey. With the planned addition of 85 new franchised locations, the company is well-positioned to achieve this target. The focus on franchising not only enables rapid expansion but also enhances brand visibility and accessibility for coffee enthusiasts around the globe.
