Superdrug, the iconic UK health and beauty retailer, is commemorating its 60th anniversary with a significant investment in its physical retail presence. This year, the company is set to enhance its high street visibility by opening 25 new stores, a move that is anticipated to generate 500 jobs across the nation, bolstering local economies and reinforcing Superdrug’s commitment to the UK market.

The expansion strategy for 2024 has already made impressive strides, with the Craigavon store in Northern Ireland doubling its size to 5,800ft² and the Lakeside Thurrock store expanding to 7,669ft². These upgrades include the introduction of a new fragrance counter and nurse services, elevating the shopping experience for customers.

In a series of exciting unveilings, Superdrug is set to open some of its largest stores ever. Notable among these are three prime locations: St David’s in Cardiff, the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, and Westfield Stratford City in east London. The Cardiff store, pioneering the Beauty Studio concept, will relocate to an expansive 11,3000ft² space featuring a treatment studio that offers an extended range of make-up services, beauty treatments, and piercings. Similarly, the Westfield Stratford City store is poised to become one of Superdrug’s flagship locations, doubling in size to 9,892ft².

The retailer’s commitment to modernization extends to seven additional store extensions and 60 store refits planned for the year. These renovations will introduce new shop fronts, fully recyclable signage, and improved flooring and ceiling tiles made from eco-friendly materials. The stores will also benefit from energy-efficient LED lighting, redesigned floor layouts, upgraded fascias, and refreshed internal signage, aligning with Superdrug’s dedication to sustainability and contemporary design.

Superdrug’s 60th-anniversary celebrations are not just about expansion but also about enhancing the customer experience and embracing eco-conscious practices. This milestone reflects the brand’s evolution and its promise to deliver accessible health and beauty products to its loyal customer base. As Superdrug continues to adapt and grow, it remains a beloved staple on the UK high street, ready to welcome shoppers with open doors and a fresh, modern look.
