Aldi to Open One New Store Every Week for the Rest of 2025

Aldi Franchise

Aldi is accelerating its UK expansion plans with an ambitious target: opening one new store every week for the remainder of 2025. Alongside this, the discounter will also upgrade more than 20 stores by year-end, reinforcing its long-term growth strategy.

Expanding Nationwide

The next wave of openings will see Aldi arrive in Fulham Broadway and Shoreditch in London, while additional locations include Eastbourne (East Sussex), Waterbrook (Kent), Meadowfield (Durham), Deeside and Treharris (Wales), and Market Harborough (Leicestershire). Further stores are also slated for Tyne and Wear, Liverpool, and Chesterfield.

These new supermarkets are part of Aldi’s £650 million investment into its UK estate in 2025, which will also include 35 refurbishments to modernize existing stores.

Customer Access and Affordability

Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK Managing Director of National Real Estate, emphasized the company’s mission:

“At Aldi, our goal is to make sure people across the UK have access to affordable, high-quality food, and opening new stores is key to making that happen. We’re now opening an average of one new store a week for the rest of 2025, showing just how ambitious our plans are to build a store network that will help us reach millions of new customers. But it’s not just about openings – it’s also about making sure we have the best-paid teams in place to run them.”

What This Means for UK Retail

Aldi’s rapid expansion underscores the growing dominance of discount retail chains in the UK, especially as inflation continues to squeeze household budgets. The retailer’s dual focus on new store growth and upgraded facilities reflects a strategy to capture new customers while enhancing the shopping experience for existing ones.
