Cookie-loving Staten Islanders filled the highly anticipated new Crumbl Cookies in West Brighton at the shop’s grand opening on Friday, June 28.
Located at 423 Forest Avenue, this is the borough’s second Crumbl Cookies location. Both stores are owned by Aimee and Robert Tarantino, who have been married for 20 years. After Aimee’s 23-year nursing career and Robert’s 27 years working in real estate and operations, the couple decided that cookies were their true calling.
The first store opened last year in Charleston, bringing viral cookies to Staten Island’s South Shore. Now, the Tarantinos are thrilled to bring their business to a new neighborhood.
thrilled to bring their business to a new neighborhood.
“We’re so excited to be a part of the West Brighton neighborhood,” Aimee continued. “We love seeing kids and people smile when they get their cookies.”
For mother-daughter customers Kimberly and Adrianna Molloy, the grand opening certainly brought on a smile.
“We’re so excited that now there’s two Crumbls on Staten Island,” Kimberly continued. “The butter cake looks amazing, and we’ve been wanting to try the lemon one.”
Adrianna shared her mother’s joy about the cookie selection and could not wait to eat the unique flavors of the day.
“I’m super excited because I love cookies and they’re my favorite thing ever. I really want to try the lemon cupcake, because I like sour things,” Adrianna said.
Aimee said that business throughout the day has been steady, with enthused customers bursting through the door to check out the fun-flavored cookies. She explained what keeps patrons hooked on the delicious delights.
“It’s just a unique concept, when you walk in and see the cookies being made and smell them baking, it’s just a different experience,” Aimee said.
Cookies are baked fresh daily and flavors are rotated every week, adding a bit of variety and surprise to the Crumbl experience. Although there are over 980 U.S. Crumbl Cookie locations, the Tarantinos’ goals regarding their new location are deeply based in the community. Aimee explained what she is most looking forward to at the West Brighton shop.
She said she is excited “seeing a lot of our friends and family, and providing a lot of jobs for a lot of our local friends,” Aimee said.
As a grand opening special promotion, customers with the Crumbl app can use code NYWBRIGHTON for a free chocolate chip cookie at the West Brighton location starting on Monday, July 1. The promotion will be valid for 30 days.
The store’s hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The store will be closed on Sundays.
