7-Eleven Australia is set to further expand its footprint in Queensland with the opening of three new stores by the end of August. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the company’s accelerated growth plan under its new ownership by 7-Eleven International.

The first of these new sites, located at 25 King Street, Bowen Hills, is a cutting-edge format concept store that offers a glimpse into the future of convenience retailing in Australia. As one of the largest stores in the 7-Eleven Australia network, the Bowen Hills location employs 27 team members and features an extended range of everyday essentials, as well as an expanded food selection catering to all meal times. To enhance convenience, the store also provides delivery services through UberEats, DoorDash, and MenuLog, allowing customers to have their favorite 7-Eleven products delivered right to their door.

A New Benchmark for Convenience Retailing

Fiona Hayes, CEO and Managing Director of 7-Eleven Australia, emphasized the significance of the new format concept store: “This store will have an extended food offer, including more meal options for all times of the day. For us at 7-Eleven Australia, we have had a long-term focus on our food. Now, as part of the 7-Eleven International network, we are looking forward to working more closely with our international counterparts to grow our food offer.”

Hayes highlighted the influence of 7-Eleven Japan, known for having one of the best food offers in the convenience industry globally. “Their expertise will be invaluable in helping to set a new benchmark here in Australia,” she added.

Continued Expansion and Economic Impact

By the end of August, 7-Eleven will have a total of 222 stores across Queensland, with new locations opening in Kedron on 8 August and Moffat Beach on 15 August. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to accelerate growth, bringing 7-Eleven’s unique convenience experience to more communities across Australia.

Hayes underscored the broader economic impact of this expansion: “Growth in our store network provides not only direct jobs when the stores are up and running, but also for local builders and other suppliers while the stores are built and fitted out. It also provides ongoing maintenance and supply chain roles with our partners.”

Since entering the Queensland market in 1982 with the opening of its Redcliffe store, 7-Eleven Australia has invested over $120 million in the state, focusing on store fit-outs and setups. The company’s commitment to growth has created job opportunities for more than 2,300 Queenslanders, both in corporate and franchised store networks, as well as in support roles.

Looking Forward

With the support of 7-Eleven International, 7-Eleven Australia is poised for significant growth in the coming years. The company will continue to focus on expanding its store network, enhancing customer-centric digital innovations, and offering a broader range of food and merchandise options.

Hayes concluded, “Our new owners 7-Eleven International are excited about the potential growth opportunities here in Australia. With their support, we will be investing in accelerated growth to become the convenient neighborhood store in more communities across Australia.”
